20 Time Reflection

    •   Chris and I both challenged ourselves by first, creating 2 different 20 time, and second we really wanted to go outside the box for each. Because of dealing with two projects back to back this challenged us to stay on top of everything and work diligently.  We chose this challenge because we wanted to see how true we could stay to ourselves... meaning how on top of this we could be on without other activities knocking on our door such as sports, or work, or family.  In our first 20 time, the goal for Chris and I was to create a lasting memory for John and to thank him for everything he had done. For our second 20 time our goal is to inform the community of saratoga (specifically shs) on the community, state, country and even world. We include a lot of local stories also that people may not know about too so this project gives us a chance to do something creative and funny.  Our plan to achieve this goal is to create a script which is already finished, and now we have to film and edit. This project will be done in the next  Honestly the second 20 time didn't go as smoothy as planned. We expected to have about 5 clips of our project done by now and we haven't even filmed one yet. Because Chris and I both played a spring sport that took up most of the time. And the fact that we need two people to film is also an issue because Chris has work every saturday 9-6. This project had so much potential but its not going to be as good as we wanted it to be. And because i go on the MAP Senior Trip this weekend Chris will be filming all by himself. This is both of our faults because we did a crummy job of planning ahead but at the same time there wasn't much we could do because of the fact that we were never free at the same time.  I learned that planning is crucial but even though Chris and I are friends, it may have not been such a good idea in the first place to work together since we are always busy. (Specifically during 2nd semester).  If we had a chance to redo this project we would get the script done at the same time because we have to keep in affect that we must keep it as recent as possible, but at the same time maybe not. I know for sure we would of planned to film a weekend where we were both free and not away like Ill be this weekend. The Next step in our project is to film and then edit and share with the class.

Challenge: Develop an outline for your five-minute, TED style talk.
  • Use your reflection to help determine the following:
    • Outline:  We will start our Ted Talk with our name and name of the project. Next we will tell the audience what it is about and then why we decided to do it. We will then share with the audience the difficulties and the strengths of our 2 20 times. In this part we will include pictures of our project or pictures of other things to describe how it went. Finally we will share with the class what we learned from these two projects and how it changed us into different men than in the beginning of the school year.

A month late show- freeze frame

So we were going to begin to film last weekend but then an amazing idea came into mind. Instead of making one 5 minute clip, why dont we make one 10-15 minute clip. What we are doing now is expanding our script to more current events such as the dead body found in Saratoga or the presidential election taking place in California.

  1. What have you learned about your topic? What we have learned about our subject is that in order to make this good (aka funny, and informing) we must make this longer and include more interviews outside the newsroom.
  2. What have you learned about yourself? What i have learned about myself is that Chris and I are very busy people and that in order for us to complete this project we must plan better according to our schedule.
  3. Have you had any setbacks? How do you plan to handle them, or how did you already handle them? Our setbacks only include our schedules and Chris getting food poisoning. We plan to handle this but me not allowing Chris to go to togos anymore.
  4. What are the next steps in your process? How can you apply anything you have learned to yourself, your school, your community, etc.?  Next steps in our process is adding more to our script and then getting interviews of people on the street.

A month Late show - Let it Begin

  1.  In regards to our topic we have learned how to script write and how to film and edit using an iPhone and iMovie.
  2.  We have learned about ourselves that we are two really busy people and sometimes have a problem with scheduling. But we have learned to over come this and plan in advance, and when ever we have free time to work on the project.
  3.  Our only setbacks was our original script getting deleted but we have re wrote it and made it better.
  4.  Our next steps is to film this weekend and then upload it to a youtube account and share with the class.
  5.  What we are doing is combining national news along with local news so we can inform many local youth about what is happening around them while also making a fun to watch.

A Month Late Show- hooked on projects

What we have done the last two weeks is honestly not a lot. With my (Cole's) Senior project rough cut being due March 14, I put a little of a grind into pushing back work for the Month Late Show. But fear not, we still accomplished things on out checklist such as: Where and when will we film (Coles house-end of march); What will we talk about? ( Politics and environment effects on local students) and finally how we will film it (by Cole's iPhone and his moms spare).

What we have learned about our selves is that we like to procrastinate a little bit and that should change and is. Our setbacks are being involved in lacrosse and baseball and not having a lot of time to do projects. We plan to handle them through grinding out on the weekends and especially during spring break

Next steps in our process is to film and edit. We can apply stuff that we have done in our school and community by asking local high schoolers on their thoughts about politics and environmental issues.

The Month Late show

  1. What is 20% Time? 20 time is a chance to show how you can help change the work or even your community. Its a chance to help talk about the world and how to make it better.
  2. What is the essential question that you have asked? How is the World/United states changing and how it is affecting people in Saratoga.
  3. What have you chosen to be your 20% Time Project? Why did you choose this? How does your project choice answer the essential question? We wanted to do a project called a month late where we make a video and talk about major events in the work for US and how they relate to people in saratoga, specifically high school students.
  4. What are your goals? Make people think, laugh and to keep them entertained. Our primary goal is to get people interested in current events basically and to start change in the world.
  5. How will you measure your progress/achievement? We will measure it by amount of people that have said good job to us, or by how many views the video has.
  6. What is your plan moving forward? Start coming up with ideas and then set up a desk and green screen and create the entertainment/news that will help people in saratoga.
